Frost no obstacle for Mens' 1s as they record third win.

Reigate made it 3 wins from 3 after a dominant 9-1 victory over City of Portsmouth. Early morning pitch inspections were very much required after freezing conditions had left a considerable covering of decorative snow across the RGS pitch. At 11am the decision was made to give the go ahead and fortunately this proved the correct decision – the new RGS astro doing superbly well to recover in time for a 1:30 start.

As has been the case numerous times this year, Reigate started the brighter of the two sides. First half goals from Tom Pickersgill and James Chesterton put the side ahead, however a well worked Pompy short corner, kept them in touch. On the stroke of half time Reigate won a short corner which was duly dispatched by Pickersgill, to put Reigate 3-1 up at half time.

The second half was where Reigate came into their own. Midfielder James Brooker had warmed up by this stage and started to dominant the centre of the park. Further goals from Pickersgill and Chesterton, as well as composed finished from Nick Chadwick and David Short, resulted in a comprehensive score of 9-1.

Reigate have started the second half of the season well, and are now in a commanding position at the top of the league, 8 points clear of second place. The squad know that this gap should not be taken for granted and that there are still some stern tests to come starting this weekend with Sunbury and Walton Hawks.
