A first half Dave Short brace ensured Reigate continued with winning ways against a tough Crawley side. Short's first was a majestic finish from a tight angle, proving that there is no rust had formed over the summer on this deceptively youthful looking chap. The second was a smart finish, following in from a James Chesterton flick.
The side struggled in the second half, with credit to Crawley who pushed hard to make the breakthrough after the break, with the RPHC defence standing firm, despite giving away numerous short corners. Defensive enforcers Matt Zander and Arran Wood proving wiley in defence, with Wood making a fantastic goal-line clearance to keep the score at 2-0.
Reigate eventually conceded with 10 to go, but it proved too little too late for Crawley.
It was good to welcome new boy Matt "Pinhead" Alexander into the frame, as well as returning faces (and knees) in the form of Billy Green and Matt Yates. All in all a decent start to pre-season with the group showing potential, but still a long way to go.
The side continue their pre-season preparation with the Group stages of the Surrey Cup at OG's on Sunday.
