With a new coach, new players and fresh ideas, the league season couldn’t come sooner for RPHC Ladies 1XI. RPHC started the game well and dominated the opening 20 minutes but were unable to break the deadlock as TH&D stood firm, despite a few efforts narrowly missing the target. RPHC continued to push forward and put the oppo under pressure which finally opened up the score line with a slick finish from Corinne Daniel. With TH&Ds heads down, the home side took advantage to double their lead with an emphatic run and finish from new comer Timea Culverwell, which could be a contender for goal of the season.
The second half brought much the same, RPHC continued to build up pressure on the oppo, and it wasn’t long after the break before a 3rd was slotted home with Laura Zander finding the back of the net this time. TH&D didn’t give up, despite being 3 goals down they tried to apply their own pressure, but this soon opened up the space for some silky one twos involving the forward line for Nicky Short to finish the move and the game with the 4th goal. An impressive start to the season so far!
