u10 boys finally lose, but only by beating themselves… (eh?!?)

Reigate entered two teams (the Polecats and the Meerkats) in their home festival, and it was great to see so may boys playing their first hockey matches. Both teams played really well, with wins in all but one game in their combined 8 games against Purley and Old Kingstonians.

The Polecats won three and drew one of their initial four games. After winning the first game 1-0, they showed great character to come from behind to win the next 2-1. Their third game was their toughest, battling hard to a 1-1 draw, before they won their fourth match 4-0.

The Meerkats breezed through their first 4 games, winning all of them - scores of 2-0, 4-0, 2-0 and 6-0 weren't flattering for a group that dominated their games and played really well as a team.

The festival finished with a winner-takes-all match between the two Reigate teams. It was a fantastic game, with both teams showing the determination, skill and teamwork that had served them so well throughout the festival. In the end the Meerkats deservedly won 2-0.

So after four festivals, 25 games and 25 players, the only time a Reigate team has lost has been at the hands of another Reigate team. Over that time we’ve achieved an aggregate score of 68-5, and this is just the beginning...
