Down to 10 before the game even started

The day didn't start well with problems on the trains, didn't improve with horrible traffic on the way up to Kennington Park and took a definite turn for the worse with Nicky V catching a ball in the face in the warm up. As we didn't have a sub, the opposition club captain very kindly stepped up and took Nicky to St George's Hospital for attention - which finally ended up in 13 stitches inside and outside her mouth (thank Heavens she was wearing her gum shield).
So, with only 10 on the pitch, we reorganised and actually had a very good start, causing them quite a few problems but we couldn't hold out and despite hard work and determination all over the pitch were 3,0 down by half time. We had a chat at half time and decided to go with 3 up front and lose the sweeper. That must be a better tactic (or maybe the desperate defending is what did it) as we only conceded 1 goal in the second half. Then the heavens opened!
Holly and Janet called by St George's on the way home to check on Nicky who was waiting for the lovely Max Fax doctor to come and see her but she didn't actually get sorted out until turned 5pm so quite a long wait in the end. Not sure if he went for the standard stitching or has been a bit more creative but 13 is something to work with isn't. Have a speedy recovery Nicky!
